Two arrested after fatal stabbing in Co Wicklow

Two people have been arrested after a man was fatally stabbed in a house in Co Wicklow on Thursday evening.

Gardaí and emergency services were called to the scene of an incident in a house in Ballyconnell, near Shillelagh, shortly after 8pm .

The body of a man, aged in his 30s, was found inside the home.

The body remains at the scene, which has been preserved ahead of a forensic examination by the Garda Technical Bureau. The State Pathologist has been notified and it is expected a postmortem examination will be carried out on Friday.

Gardaí arrested a woman in her 20s and a man in his 30s at the scene. They have been detained in separate Garda stations in Bray and Baltinglass for questioning, under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

Gardaí have issued an appeal for any witnesses who may have noticed unusual activity in Ballyconnell village on Thursday evening, or who may have camera or dash cam footage of the area between 7pm and 8.15pm, to contact gardaí.
