Corrie: Sam is told that his mother has died

Coronation Street ’s Jude Riordan might be impressing viewers with his show-stealing performances on the hit ITV soap, but the youngster has had plenty of experience in front of the camera.

Jude broke the hearts of millions of Corrie fans with his portrayal of Sam Blakeman, who is grieving the tragic loss of mum Natasha Blakeman, played by Rachel Leskovac, after she was accidentally shot dead by Harvey Gaskell.

The young actor was praised for his mature performance, as his character deals with the devastating loss of his mother, and viewers were sobbing as Sam bid an emotional farewell to Natasha in the funeral home.

She was caught up in a tragic case of mistaken identity, and died from her gunshot wounds in scenes that aired earlier this week, and even Jude’s co-stars were blown away by his performance.

Jane Danson, who plays Leanne Battersby, wrote on Twitter : “I work with @JudeRiordan most days and i know how wonderful he is. He has a maturity beyond his years and that scene with ‘My Nick ‘ was absolutely stunning.”

The 10-year-old has been wowing viewers with his impressive acting skills since he debuted on the long-running soap last year, playing Nick Tilsley’s long lost son Sam.

But it’s not his first time in front of the camera, and the youngster, who hails from St Helens in Merseyside, has been on TV screens since the age of five.

Back in 2017, he appeared on the hit Channel 4 documentary series The Secret Life of 5 Year Olds, and he was a hit with viewers.

Described as a “happy chappy” by mum Kellie and dad Paul, Jude was seen enthusiastically taking part in all the activities in the fly-on-the-wall show.

Kellie said she signed Jude up for the two-week experiment because she wanted to see what her son was getting up to while nobody was looking, and she and Paul were overjoyed to see Jude’s personality shine through on the show.

He’s also had other high-profile roles, including in the hit Sky One show Brassic, playing Michelle Keegan ’s son Tyler Croft, and it was recently confirmed he will be reprising his role as the youngster in the upcoming third series of the comedy.

Jude’s dad has also appeared on TV screens, appearing in Hollyoaks in the early days of his acting career in a behind the scenes role, but has since moved behind the camera, and is now a successful television director, helming episodes of Emmerdale and Casualty.
