Almost 40 dogs seized from ‘inhumane’ conditions in two Dublin apartments

Almost 40 dogs and puppies and some other animals have been removed from “inhumane living conditions” after searches at two apartments in Citywest in Dublin, An Garda Síochána said.

Gardaí from Tallaght were assisted during Wednesday’s multi-agency operation by the South Dublin County Council dog warden and the Dublin Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (DSPCA).

“Over the course of the search gardaí recovered 38 dogs/puppies and other animals which were being kept in inhumane living conditions,” a spokesman said.

“Other animals recovered from the premises included cats, parrots, tarantulas, a snake, a scorpion and a millipede.”

The spokesman said the animals were removed from the apartments and taken by the DSPCA to receive veterinary treatment.

“No arrests have been made at this time. This investigation is ongoing,” he added.
